Getting Started

Thanks for choosing the Kurviger App! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Here is a small tutorial to get you started using the Kurviger App. If you have any questions along the way, have a look at our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) or ask in our forum.

The Kurviger app is available on Google Play. Generally, the Free version will give you the same features as the website, the Pro version will give a lot of extra features, the most important ones are turn-by-turn navigation and offline maps, for a more detailed overview have a look at this page.

Get the Kurviger app on Google Play

Planning a route is very simple. You can use the search feature (magnifier icon) to find a place, use the location button on the bottom-right to zoom to your location, or simply zoom into the map. Long press the map at your desired location until a menu shows up, select Set end, to set this location as destination of your route. If your location was found, the Kurviger App will automatically calculate the route for you, otherwise do the same for your start location. Congratulations, you planned your first route!
Note 1: if you struggle with placing the waypoint to exactly one location, have a look here
Note 2: you can also plan your route on the website and transfer it to the app

Ok, that's the tedious part, now let's have some fun and enjoy a good ride! Depending on the app you use there are different options for you. If you use the Kurviger Pro app, good for you, you can enjoy turn-by-turn navigation with voice guidance. If you use the Kurviger Free app, don't worry, you're still able to enjoy the route you just planned.

There is not much to do. Press the navigate button in the bottom-left corner of the screen and start riding. If you have an audio device you will be able to hear voice route guidance as well (both cable and bluetooth work). If you disable your screen, the navigation will continue in the background and you will hear turn instructions, this is very handy if you don't have a smartphone mount or to safe battery.

Before you start riding, we highly recommend to download the relevant offline maps for your region, this is not required but recommended.

Kurviger Pro and Kurviger Free allow you to automatically follow your location and (optionally update the map orientation). You can enable the follow location mode by long pressing on the location button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. You can change the screen orientation by pressing on the compass needle in the top-left corner of the screen. I also recommend you to enable the Turn instruction nodes in Settings→Routing. You can also tilt the view by moving two fingers up or down on the map.

Similar to the export function of Kurviger.de you can export your route to a navigation app or device of your choice. Go to the main menu and select export. More information on exporting can be found in Route Transfer (Import, Export). You can select a different folder that matches the import folder of your app you want to import to. Note: on newer Android devices it might not possible to save routes to the SD-card.
