When transferring a route, it is important to understand that every navigation system uses different road data and different algorithms to calculate a route. This can lead to different results when transferring a route from Kurviger to a different system, like Garmin or Tom Tom. Even when you stay within the Kurviger universe, if you use different route options or try the same route after some times has passed, it is possible that the route is not the same again. Over the time, some roads are closed due to construction, other roads are build, and the road network changes. When you use BRouter to recalculate a route, the results can also differ.
If you want to make sure that a route stays as closely as possible to your originally planned route, here are some best practices that you can follow.
The first step is to make sure that the route you planned is actually behaving the way you expect.
To avoid that your route is changed by a different system you can add more shaping points along your route. Your navigation system will try to calculate a route along these points. Try to place as many as needed but as less as possible and try to place them cleverly on important parts of the route.
The Kurviger export offers to place additional waypoints automatically, this works well for many situations, but the best results are achieved manually.
Now you have to transfer your route to your navigation device. When you load your route some navigation devices offer to show the track as an overlay, you can do this to see differences between your planned route. If this is not possible, you can compare the distance of the Kurviger route to your navi. If there are larger differences, something might be off. In this case, we recommend a detailed check.
